Introducing....

Jon and I welcomed Logan David Worthington into the world yesterday at 12:35pm. He weighed in at 7 llbs. 9 oz. and was 20 inches long. We are all resting comfortably at the hospital. Big brother Brayden is not to sure of Logan yet, but he did try to offer him his duck and gave him "knuckles", so that is a good sign.

Brayden meeting Logan for the first time. A good sign of peace, he offered him his favorite duck.

Logan and his stylish hairdo, the kid already needs a haircut!!

Brayden turned 2!!!!

Ok, so I went to go and update the blog today and realized that it has been a month since my last post. Really a month, I don't know where time goes because to me I feel like I just updated the blog about a week ago. So I do apologize again that it has been so long, but I guess it has been a while since I am starting with Halloween pictures.

Where do I begin with what we have been up to over the past month. I guess I will start with Halloween. We totally thought that Brayden was going to dress up as a dinosaur for Halloween. The reason behind it is that when we want a really good hug from him we tell him we want a dinosaur hug and he gives us the biggest hug and also roars like a dinosaur, so we thought perfect he will be great at this. Not so much. We went to the costume store and he absolutely freaked out when I tried to put him in a costume, so we had to retool our Halloween costume to something that he was more familiar with. But of course a Hockey player. We just got him a jersey and he carried his hockey stick around, boy did he love it!! He told everyone he was a hockey player, it was cute. We had been prepping him the couple of days prior to trick or treating on what he was going to be doing. He would tell us trick or treat and we would give him a small piece of candy. We were in for it to find out that he LOVES trick or treating. He would ring the door bell, say his trick or treat, followed politely by "sank um" (aka thank you), then ask for more!! It was so cute, of course who could resist a little kid asking for more candy, so he usually got it. His bucket was full of candy when we were done. He definitely found out that he loves to trick or treat and for about a week after Halloween asked us if he could go trick or treating.

We had a great Mickey Mouse celebration at our house to help celebrate Brayden turning 2. It was a ton of fun with great friends and family there to help celebrate. He was going around the house all day saying, " Happy Birthday Brayden!!" at the top of his lungs. He got so many toys he kept opening them saying "oh my gosh", it was adorable. Though his favorite gift came from his friend Zach, hockey goals and sticks. He asks us to play hockey with him everynight!! I will have to try and sneak a video of him playing, it is hilarious. When he gets it into the net, he screams, "GOAL" and then runs around the place.

Some of Brayden's favorite things at 2:

  • He loves anything that has to do with hockey

  • His favorite cartoon is Mickey Mouse

  • His favorite foods are french fries, chicken nuggets, fish sticks, and peaches

  • He loves his milk (though I have more to tell you on this in a minute)

  • He loves to dance and listen to music

  • He is a big reader and knows most of the books in our house by heart

  • Sleeps all through the night in his big boy bed

  • Hates to change his clothes in the morning, we have to bribe him

  • He has the biggest sweet tooth and loves candy or as he calls them gummies

We have also been spending a lot of time with grandma and grandpa lately. Jon's mom was going on 5 1/2 years breast cancer free, when she got the awful diagnosis again that she has breast cancer. We have already made several trips up there to help brighten her day up with Brayden. After a few minutes with him he will cheer you right up. So please say a prayer for her and the entire family as we journey along with her as she beats the cancer!!

Since my last post we also switched daycares for Brayden too. We were just having too many problems with our old daycare actually offering Brayden scrambled eggs and whole milk. Great two things that he is severely allergic too. The best and worst part about it is that the teachers did it in front of Jon or I, so at least we could stop them, but who knows what he got when we were not there to tell them he was really allergic to them. They just had so much turnover that no one knew what his allergies where. So needless to say we wanted to find him a safer environment where we knew they were not offering him things he was not supposed to have. Well I am really glad that we switched because he LOVES his new school!!! In the few weeks that he has been there he "graduated" to the toddler room and is now with a lot older kids. He absolutely loves them and he is learning so much. He comes home with flash cards in his bag of the signs in sign language that he is learning. Jon and I have to look them up on the internet because he knows much more than we do at this point. Back to my milk story, so the two big changes that happen when you go to the toddler room is one you drink out an open cup and two everytime you get your diaper changed you have to sit on the toliet. We thought, no problem. Brayden loves his milk, he will ask for milk all day long and drink it if you give it to him. Well not so much when it comes out of an open cup. We are now going on probably 5 days now that he has not drank any milk. He absolutely refuses to drink it out of an open cup. Funniest thing about it though is that he will chug water out of open cup, just not milk. Funny kid, not sure what he is thinking, but he just won't do it. Poor thing has eaten so much the past few days to make up for not drinking milk at all!! I sure hope that changes soon. Also I got word today when I picked him up that he went potty on the toliet for the first time!!!! Yeah!!! I'm so excited, we have been very casual about the potty and not forcing it at all, but it really helps that daycare is reinforcing it. I guess we need to buckle down and get this kid potty trained before the next kid arrives!!!

Finally we got to see my side of the family this past weekend as I was honored to be chosen as the godmother of my niece Callie. Somehow when I uploaded the photos this one came up first and it should be last, so sorry about that.

Callie and I. She was hilarious during the church service, she was screeching and yelling the whole time, very cute!! Since these pictures are out of order you might not notice, but I completely chopped all my hair off this past week too and donated it to Locks of Love in honor of my mother in law.

Enjoying one last swing in early November.

Helping carve the pumpkin with daddy.

Ready for trick or treating as a hockey player

It got a bit cold right before we went out so we had to bundle up a little. Notice that cheesy smile, if you look closely most of the pictures he has this same funny smile.

Since my track record lately is not so great about updating the blog, I might as well wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Mission Accomplished...

As I mentioned in the last post, our goal over the past few weeks was to transition Brayden into a big boy bed so we could free up the crib for the baby's arrival. After talking to friends about how they transitioned their kids and reading up on the Internet we dove right into getting Brayden into his new bed. We have had the big bed set up in our spare bedroom for a couple of months now. We have never really tried to have him sleep there, we just wanted it there and for him to know that it was his big boy bed. Jon and I had a free Friday afternoon so we went shopping for the perfect bedsheets for Brayden's new bed. After looking all over the mall, we found the perfect obnoxious toddler bedding, Mickey!! Let's just say Brayden is very obsessed with Mickey these days and thought it would be the perfect lure for him to sleep in his big boy bed.

We went home and washed the sheets immediately, since we decided that we were going to start on a Friday night that way if he was crabby over the weekend, we could at least have him at home and taking naps. We decided the best thing for Brayden was to see that the crib was going to be taken down and the new bed placed in his room in place of the crib. So we had "Handy Manny" come and take down the crib and help put up the new bed in it's spot. We thought if we just moved the crib into the other room he would have a complete meltdown and just want to sleep in the crib, so if we got rid of it it made us and him realize that he had to sleep in the big boy bed.

After seeing the final product with the bed in place and the obnoxious bedding on it, he LOVED it!! He was so excited about his Mickey bedding. The first few nights we stayed in his bedroom at the foot of the bed, not looking at him until he feel asleep. The first few night he got up a few times, but overall it wasn't bad at all. No major breakdowns. The biggest concern that we had was him wondering around at night or trying to get down the stairs to see us. So of course we put the gate up at the top of the stairs just in case. They have must have trained him really well at daycare, but knock on wood he hasn't really gotten out of the bed. When he wakes up in the morning, he is still in the bed waiting for us to get him out. A few times he has gotten out, but he will stand right next to the bed and hold onto it until we come and get him. What a relief. After about 3 nights of sitting in his room, we decided that he was a big enough kid to sleep by himself. So of course we used some major bribery and said that if he went to sleep by himself we would buy him a toy. Wouldn't you know, he slept straight through the night and in the morning when I went to get him, he said to me "prize". What a smart kid, he knows what he wants. I gave in and bought him some Mickey toy, but it worked and since then he has slept in his bed and we have had no problems. It was a much smoother transition then I ever thought it was going to be!!!

Naptimes have been a little bit harder in the bed though. We he out for the night, he is out, but during naptime is a different story. He will usually sleep for about an hour, which he should sleep about 2 and then we have found him out of his bed and reading books in his room. Jon and I were sitting in the living room on Saturday and we started hearing pig and cow noises. At first we couldn't figure out where it was coming from, since we thought Brayden was sleeping. So we went around and cracked the door open and sure enough Brayden was sitting on the bed reading a book. When he was finished with the book he would put it back get another one and hop back into bed. We just left him alone since he wasn't really making a sound, he ended up doing this for about 45 minutes!!! We thought he would get so tired at some point that he would fall back asleep, we were wrong. At least he was being quiet and nicely reading, so I can't get too mad.

We now have the second bedroom empty and ready to start setting up for the arrival of baby #2 here shortly. I am officially 30 weeks today, only 10 more weeks!! It's sort of ironic, but we have nothing ready for this one at all. All we have at our house is the crib, which is broken down in the closet. Everything else is scattered in containers at different houses since we have moved. We really need to get our act together and get things around for this kid. And everyone has been asking, no we haven't picked out a name yet. As we keep saying, we are probably going to use one of the "left over" names that we had when we had Brayden. We didn't name Brayden until we saw him, so I am assuming we will do the same thing with this one. We need to make sure the name fits the face. I'm feeling great, can't complain at this point, so that is good.

We decided to enroll Brayden in "swim lessons", since he had such a great time in the water on our vacation. Really at this age it is just getting acquainted with the water and learning basic swimming motions. Jon was convinced that it would be all moms and the kids. So for the first lesson I took him and Jon just came half way through to see how Brayden was doing in the water. To both our shock it was all the dads that were in the water with the kids and preggo me with Brayden. It was pretty funny. I didn't mind at all. I actually think that I get more of a workout doing it than Brayden does. We are constantly lifting and spinning them, I'm exhausted when the lesson is done and it is only for 30 minutes!!

Brayden and I learning to kick in the pool

My little puppy, he absolutely loves swimming. He cries when the lesson is over because he wants to keep swimming.

We went to a fall festival and saw "Peyton Manning". Brayden was pretty excited.

He also go to drive a bulldozer.

This is how Brayden now sleeps in his big boy bed. He hasn't figured out yet that he could lay the other way and have a ton more room. He prefers to sleep this way everynight. Notice the obnoxious bedding.

We had the pleasure of watching my niece Callie this past weekend for the night. We thought it would be good practice to see how it would be with two kids. Boy am I glad that we had a trial run with Callie. It made Jon and I realize how much work we have ahead of us with two kids. We decided that we were going to head to the zoo for a little bit. I think it took us a full hour to pack the car and get the kids ready just to go!!

What a cutie!!

We thought we were going to have a long night not knowing if Callie would sleep for us or not. Turned out she was a saint and slept the whole night for us. After having her for the day we realized that Brayden is going to be more difficult than a newborn baby. Brayden insisted on doing everything that Callie did. He wanted to get into her saucer, needed a bottle, needed to be burped. He was a handful. He was very concerned about her at all times though, which was nice. In the morning Callie slept a couple hours longer than Brayden and I think he asked about every 2 minutes if Callie was up!! Here he decided that he wanted to give Callie a hug, but instead pretty much tackled her down to the ground. Looks like we have to work on the word gentle.

I then went to change Callie's outfit and I came back to find Brayden sitting on top of Callie. Don't worry she wasn't injured. Notice the smirk on his face, stinker!!!

Update...

Yes I know it's been a while since I have updated the blog and I am sorry! I know people have been hounding me to update it. I keep thinking to update it and then I look at my camera and realize I haven't taken any pictures to update you out in blogger world as to what we have been up to. Brayden has now realized that he doesn't really like to take pictures anymore. He is more interested in looking into the camera and seeing the pictures instead of taking them. I promise that I will get better at updating the blog here over the next few months. We have a lot going on: we are transitioning to a big boy bed this weekend, Brayden's second birthday is coming up, swim lessons, and of course the arrival of baby # 2 in December (hopefully).

Here are some pictures that help describe what we have been up to lately.
We have had play dates with our new friends in Indy, this is Layne. They had a blast pushing each other on the Mickey firetruck.

We had a lovely visit with cousin Callie, she's a doll!!

Uncle Joey and "Auntie" Heather have stopped by a few times to have play dates with Brayden.

We had our first visit to the Indianapolis Zoo.

Brayden loved seeing all the animals and telling us what each animal sounds like. His favorite for the day was the rooster, go figure.

We have been gearing up for Colts football season.

More play dates with all the Indy "Butler" kids.

Brayden helped me celebrate my 30th brithday with a lovely case of croup cough.

Belly snapshot from my 30th brithday, though I am 28 weeks now. This is the only picture I have taken so far.

We had a mini-vacation in Brown County a few weeks ago. Brayden LOVED the indoor waterpark.

He even got to go down the big slide with dad.

Brayden and mom enjoying the lazy river.

We decided to do a pony ride at Brown County, I love the look of his face on this one.

But don't worry friends, he wanted more and more once we started walking with the horse.

We even had to make a second trip to the stable because he kept talking about "Oreo", the horse he rode.

Brayden has found a new fascination with pumpkins, this is the best shot that I got of him sitting by the pumpkins.

We had tons of fun walks on trails in Brown County, we even spotted a few deer.

My Handy Manny, he is busy at work "fixing" things.

Brayden busy at work coloring.

Anytime Brayden sees any sort of football on TV, he automatically says "Peyton Manning, touchdown!!" It's hilarious.
I have to say that we have had several visits and trips to see the grandparents and I have ZERO pictures of it. I need to do better at documenting those visits!!

Baby # 2

Ok, so I have to admit I have been super bad at updating the blog but also taking pictures of what has been going on the past 6 weeks, so unfortunately I don't have a whole lot to update though it's been awhile.

On Thursday we found out that baby #2 is going to be a boy!!! We are super excited!!! I'm getting out numbered here pretty quickly though. As Jon says, our wallet will really appreciate that it's another boy. Luckily timing wise Brayden was born in Nov. and this little one will hopefully be born in December, so we can pretty much reuse everything!! We have not even discussed names yet. We decided since we had such a hard time last time that we were not even going to talk about names till we found out the sex. Luckily we still have some names that we liked from last time, so hopefully it's a little easier to name # 2. As for myself I have been feeling great. All of my energy has come back, so as of now I can't complain.

We have been super busy down in Indy trying to get into a good routine, but as of yet we are not there. I have been traveling to Chicago at least once a week since we moved, so it's hard for Brayden to get used to everything down here. I was super lucky to be able to stay with my college roommate and her family while in Chicago. A big thank you to the McKenzie family. I had a great time. Even though I was away from Brayden I was able to spend some time with their 6 month old Lilly.

Brayden is finally getting used to daycare, aka "school". As of about 2 weeks ago he no longer cries when we drop him off. He is learning most of the kids names and talks about the teachers at home all the time, so he seems to be adjusting really well. He also seems to be learning a ton there too. I got up with him the other morning and he counted for me from 1 - 10. Pretty good since I thought he only knew to "tree". He will only count for you though when he wants to, otherwise forget about it.

Brayden has also been very vocal about everything lately. He insists that he does everything!!! If he doesn't want you to do it, he says Brayden, Brayden. AKA - let me do it mom. He is also picking up on every last word and phrase that we say. My favorite word that he says lately is awesome!! He doesn't know how and when to use it, he uses it for everything, it's pretty funny.

Here are the few pictures that I have taken over the last few weeks:

Fishing with dad at the lake

Trying to catch a big fish

Speaking of fish, here is my little fish!

Enjoying the pool with Maddie

By our house there is a pond with tons of ducks, Brayden loves feeding the ducks. We try to go every night, it's pretty funny as soon as we get close to the pond the ducks start following the stroller because they know we are there to feed them, it's pretty funny.Daddy and Brayden

Jon has been prepping Brayden for the upcoming Colts football season. These was a picture of Peyton Manning in the newspaper, so that is what he is looking at.
